Week1: Journal 1
I am two days into this course and I am already excited about the way the course is structured. I read the Chapter 1: "Made to Engage", in The Age of Engage. before even reading the entire chapter just the heading of the topic 'Stop listening to your customers and start interacting with them' has completely changed my thought process. One of the topic which interested in the chapter is the difference between the Web1 vs Web 2 Vs Web 3 . Clearly it shows that web is fast becoming the real time information center for all human knowledge and behavior.
As rightly mentioned in the book the companies are currently marketing in the consumer powered age that is Marketing 2.0. With the Live Web and the other latest technology it is clearly the Marketing is reinvented form the age of static Web. With the Live Web there is an audience shift from prime time to anytime this has an impact on the broadcast programming from its advertising revenue stream. Currently blogs have become so important for the companies to introduce their product and also it is the platform where the analysts provide their comment about the product.
Marketing paradigm based on the "Six V's" (Venture, Value, Voice, Verification, Vinicity, Vehicle) gives a whole new thought process for today's extraordinarily competitive and complex market place.

In addition to reading the chapter, I also spend time watching the Charlie Rose conversation with Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.com. Even during the product design phase amazon has clearly defined its strategy and target customers. The product differentiation and providing a device where the customers get the same experience as a they read the book has helped amazon to see success in the Kindle product . It is also important to note that as Jeff mentioned amazon always have a strategic long term goal and not just have tactical plans for their products. Another important thing mentioned by Jeff was the customer behaviors around the world, the marketing tactics and strategy has to be adopted to the local countries where the product is introduced.
One of the main advantage of the Live web is the customer reviews that makes the product features transparent and easy for the others buyers to understand the product features before they can buy. Here is the customer review report from consumerreport.com for Kindle 2.0
